Sewing Machine for Sale « Result #1 on Oct 8, 2009, 3:20pm »
Hi,
Don't know if anyone uses this forum anymore??
I'm selling my Wimsew 3300 sewing machine, virtually brand new, used maybe a dozen times mainly to re-rubber reins, will do rug repairs, bought for £600, will take offers around £300. Can deliver if local (I'm based in Warrington, Cheshire) or can arrange delivery (its big & heavy!) Comes complete with table, spare needles, etc. Reason for sale is that I just don't use it!
For any further info, please phone me 07900 897202 or email samcolville@hotmail.co.uk
I'm also selling off some tools, if anyone is interested and wants a list, please email me.

Good to hear you are expanding the business Carol. Hope you have found a good workshop by now. I have been very busy this year but have not been to Florida teaching again. Would be good to see you over here again sometime soon.

Hey Sam I just stay in a random B and B when i'm down there, I can recommend Hillside guest house in Odstock. Have just got back from a week training, sorry David but its just half the distance than Cumbria. The red leather is from Sedgewicks, its bridle leather and is the most amazing shade of cherry red. I love working with it.

Hey there Sam, its good to know someone is out there and active on here. I'm also off to Salisbury the first week in September to finally try to do my level 2. Can't believe i've now been stitching leather for 3 years. My work remains relatively consistent with horsey stuff, dog collars etc but have now been asked to do some adult gear! It gave me the excuse to buy some scarlet red leather!!!

and no one has posted a message about anything? Any one done any courses with David this year? or planning to do any?
I would love to go back but am starting at Salisbury sometime in September, just waiting for my starting date.
Anyone had any interesting projects? I keep getting lots of fishing bags to repair, seems that the firs guy was pleased with his repairs and has told his fisherman mates! word of mouth is the best advertising ever!

Yes, I agree! Is there anyone out there?
I've been doing saddle fitting and flocking for a custom saddle company in the U.S.: Borne Saddlery, based out of Houston, Texas. The saddles are made in the U.K., are of very high quality workmanship and materials, and the company has great customer service.
I've also been doing lots of reflocking and rebalancing of all kinds of saddles in addition to the Borne ones. And I've made a few custom-sized bridles for Arabian, Draft, and Fresian customers. I'm getting ready to move the shop out of my garage and into a rented space . . . there's been no room for my car in there for 6 months and if the homeowner's association gets wind of my running a business out of my garage I'll be in trouble! (Highly against the rules.)
I'd love to take another course, but as yet I don't have the funds to cross the Atlantic. When I do, David, you'll be the first to know!

Its like a ghost board here!
What's everyone up to or what plans do you have for 2008?
I opened up my own saddlery in October 2007 and its going great - I really love working again!! Its based at a local Equestrian Centre which has great facilities and runs 250 lessons a week and has some sort of show on every weekend - so its great for business.
Anyone planning any courses this year? I'll hopefully do something even if its just a refresher course.
Re: Albion's "keyhole" tree « Result #10 on Dec 16, 2007, 12:08pm »
Here is how the Albion saddle is advertised in the US on several different websites.
"Albion SL Ultima Dressage Saddle Like the SLK Ultima, the SL Ultima offers a very close feel in a dressage saddle, also with a molded knee flap and superior grade leather The "keyhole" tree is designed to accommodate the high narrow wither and broad, flat back of the modern warmblood Proven technology on tree construction Comfortable anti concussion design ensures the horse's comfort and the rider's position and feel " ... A "frog mouth" tree is mentioned in Joyce Harmon's The Horse's Pain-Free Back and Saddle-Fit Book with drawings on page 65. For those out there without the book, here is the caption for the drawing: "Figure A shows a tree that is wide across the front of the head and the points. Dressage saddles often have this feature to help 'free up the horse's shoulders,' but the narrower part of the tree near the stirrup bars must then bear extra weight, creating the pressure points you see in B."
I would still like to know more about the Albion SL Ultima tree. Has anyone out there worked on one?
